Hazel "J4d3" Williams - Roll4it Background Story

​​Lights flicker in varying colors, and moving shapes form around me as I plug myself into the PA system. My music plays throughout the club and silhouettes move to the beat as the lights dance upon their shapes.

Just another day at The Palace, one of the various night clubs in the Matrix that I work for. It’s my only escape these days. I just let the rhythm flow through my body, and try to forget the days ahead. If only every moment could be this raw and right...

*The music fades.*

I open my eyes and look around at the almost empty room. The only furniture in the entire apartment is the mattress I managed to find in a dumpster. You know what they always say, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” Fuckers, don’t appreciate shit. Another reason I tend to leave the meatspace alone. I just prefer being with my music and not having to deal with that shit.

I didn’t always live like this...Nor think this way. When I was younger, I lived a more luxurious lifestyle. My mother and father worked for Aztechnology, the second largest corporation in the world and the number one producer of consumer goods. That was until they went missing, or so the police reports say, but I know better. They wouldn’t just leave me. I was eight for fuck’s sake. Aztech has to be behind it, and I’m determined to get to the bottom of it.

Looking through the walls of the apartment building, I put my headphones on and blink my eyes. A moment later everything goes infrared, and I start breaking down audio sources. I watch as the bodies in the rooms move around the space. In particular, I’m focusing in on the twelfth floor.

Through some contacts, and a bit of snooping, I’ve figured out that Aztechnology have a safehouse location in this apartment building. They’ve been sending missions to a well-organized group of hired guns, and I’m fairly certain I’ve found them. They’ve been taking precautions, but after many sleepless days and nights in the Matrix, I’ve managed to get access to their Silent Host through a backdoor in one of their programs.

I’m also fairly certain there’s another group of shadowrunners in the area. They seem to be searching for the same group as me, but they haven’t been very clean. Was probably the most entertaining thing I’ve seen in a while, tripping alarms, so sloppy. I’ve reached out to my fixer, Zod. Maybe he knows them. Who am I to poke fun though? I could use some help myself if I ever want to get those damn access codes. I will get them though...If it’s the last thing I do. They will be exposed for what they’ve done, and I will find my parents.
